For the decreased beanie and worsted weight (4) medium yarn you might need 3 strands on a large or extra large gauge loom. After moving the stitches over you could be sure to snug up the yarn ti be tight as well as working with the yarn after pulling off the loom, before tying off, to get the extra slack out. An adjustable loom will have a slider or something to allow you walking the stitches down, so to speak, and compress or make the loom smaller after reducing the pegs you need. that way you aren’t putting so much extra yarn into the project. The AllnOne loom loom, a KISS loom or even a long loom from knifty knitter with loom clips (discontinued but still available online) are three product lines that can help you adjust the peg count.

I am having the same problem (using a medium-weight (4) acrylic, doubled). Would you recommend using more than two stands to prevent this? I am brand spanking new to knitting so it’s hard for me to understand your instructions for the adjustable loom. Do you have a video on that? Also, if using a smaller gauge loom is the best, where’s the best place to find one? I can only find the medium/bulky circle looms & I’d love to get a small and even fine gauge loom for some lightweight baby hats. Any advice would be appreciated. Your videos are SUPER helpful!
